Barry T. Malin, M.D., F.A.C.S., is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Endourological Society.
Dr. Malin received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. He completed his residency in urology at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Malin has completed advanced courses in laparoscopic urologic surgery given by the Houston Laser Institute. He has also had advanced laparoscopic training at the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
Dr. Malin has special interest in the treatment of prostate disorders and female urinary incontinence. In addition to the pubovaginal sling and transobturator hammock technique for incontinence, Dr. Malin also performs other urologic laparoscopic procedures including pelvic lymphadenectomy, varicocelctomy, laparoscopy for undescended testes, nephrectomy, and partial nephrectomy.
As a urologist, Dr. Malin is highly trained to treat disorders of the male and female urinary tract (bladder, ureter, kidney, and urethra) and the male reproductive system. Urology is classified as a surgical subspecialty, but since a wide variety of clinical problems are encountered when treating urological conditions, knowledge of internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, and other specialties is required.
